Compton's Interactive World Atlas is a
CD-ROM based product with:
- Detailed Satellite & Country Maps
- Articles
- Statistics
- Videos
- Music
- Photography
- 3D Flight Simulator
Although this was an unusual project (in
that we did very little coding), we were still responsible for a vast amount
of the end-product. Throughout the entire project, we were called upon
to create inviting and creative interface design graphics, produce
instructional vides, and work with Compton's technical staff to ensure a
top-quality product.
For example, the following graphic shows
many weather related events and terms in a graphic interface. Users
simple click on an interface element and are then presented with a video
explaining the event.
A particular challenge was to create
screen interfaces with a very large number of user-interface elements in a
manner that was both useful to the end-user and consistent with the product's
overall design.
